QTS 2 xtra PLUS can be used successfully in several ways:
1) As a direct substrate for growing plants (vegetables, flowers, decorative plants) for the production of seedlings and for transplanting. The QTS 2 substrate has a coarse structure with preserved fibres, fractions of 0-30 millimetres, with a large water capacity. It is used for transplanting large plants, with high requirements in terms of nutrients and water-air capacity, into large pots with a diameter of 12 to 18 cm.
2) as a substrate for growing plants after mixing with soil or some inert material (e.g. sand, peat) in the production of seedlings and for transplanting, and
3) as a material for increasing the content of organic matter and improving the physical and chemical properties of soil (increasing looseness, increasing the adsorption capacity for water and nutrients, raising soil temperature, increasing the available content of calcium, magnesium and microelements).
If the substrate is mixed with soil or some inert material, the ratio of substrate: soil = 1: 1 or 1: 2 should be maintained. If the substrate is used to improve the physicochemical properties of the soil, the amount of application can be in the range of 5-50 t / ha, with mandatory plowing, after even spreading over the surface.
The amount of clay, in the form of granules, added to the substrates is 10 kg / m3. Clay granules increase the ion exchange abilities of the substrate, preventing the occurrence of leaching. Nutrients regularly reach the plants and clay granules prevent the appearance of excess or deficiency in the supply of nutrients. Clay granules absorb water well and affect better wetting of the substrate. Clay granules also affect water quality and reduce fluctuations in pH and salinity.
